AMREF is today the largest health development organization based in Africa, with 97% of our staff of 1,000 coming from the communities in which we work.
AMREF is a beacon of hope for hundreds of thousands of people in Africa . We mend bodies and spirits, devise and implement health programs that focus on the most critical health issues, such as offering maternal and child health services to reduce maternal and child mortality rates; training health workers to build local capacity in communities across Africa; providing access to clean water; bringing health services to remote rural areas; and distributing bed nets to prevent malaria.
