Over the past five decades, AMREF has received numerous awards for its contributions to African health development. Some of AMREF’s most recent awards include:

Gates Award for Global Health - 2005 

      

The award was established in 2000 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It is given annually to an organization that has made a major and lasting contribution to the field of global health.

Medical Honors Award, Discovery Health Channel - 2004

 

AMREF received the Medical Honors Award from Discovery Health Channel, USA for its nearly 50 years of extraordinary lifesaving work to improve the health of millions of people in Africa.

Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Award - 1999

 

The $1.5 million award is the world’s largest humanitarian award, honoring a charitable or non-governmental organization that has made extraordinary contributions toward alleviating human suffering anywhere in the world.
