William H. MacArthur

William H. MacArthur is currently President and owner of Brooksville Development Corporation in Orlando, Florida, which was established in 1982. Brooksville, in partnership with various investors from overseas, develops real estate in the US and Southeast Asia for residential, tourist/commercial (including hospitality), and retail uses. From 1967-1978, Mr. MacArthur practiced law in New York and Tokyo and was an officer in American Express’ international banking operations, working on the acquisition and establishment of new banking and merchant banking operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. From 1978 to 1982, with partners he established a bank in Manama, Bahrain (Trans-Arabia Investment Bank) and Transar Capital Corporation in New York to handle investments from the Middle East in the US. 

Since the late 1990’s he has been engaged in various social development activities (education, micro-credit, women and children’s health issues, etc.) in the Philippines, Madagascar, various countries in East Africa, India, and Tibet. Since 2001, these activities have been conducted through The Brooksville Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) private operating foundation. Mr. MacArthur graduated from Yale University (1963) and Columbia Law School (1967). He joined the AMREF USA Board in October 2005 and is also on the boards of the Education Development Center, the Tibet Poverty Alleviation Fund and the Global Fund for Humanity and on the Advisory Board of Healing the Children.
