Among the many passions of our founder and his wife, Tom and Nan Rees, one stood out: their immeasurable love for and dedication to Africa and its people. They made a life-long commitment to the continent and created an unmatched legacy by co-founding in 1957 The Flying Doctors of East Africa, which today has grown into Amref Health Africa, the largest African-based health development organization.
We are proud to announce The Dr. Thomas and Natalie Rees Memorial Fund (Rees Memorial Fund) to honor and continue the legacy of Tom and Nan. The fund will support the Flying Doctors, the clinical and surgical outreach program of Amref Health Africa that started more than 50 years ago as a groundbreaking idea by my Dad, alongside Drs. Archibald McIndoe and Michael Wood, to take essential medical and surgical services by plane to remote areas across eastern Africa.
