Two new maternal health facilities built in Samburu, Kenya

In partnership with the Samburu County Ministry of Health, PharmAccess and the mPesa Foundation, Amref Health Africa opened two newly renovated and fully equipped maternal and newborn health facilities in Suguta and Barsaloi in the Rift Valley of Northern Kenya. Facilities include medical equipment, fully stocked pharmacies, equipped delivery rooms and the provision of two motorbikes and one 4x4 ambulance to facilitate emergency transport of pregnant women to the health facilities. Amref Health Africa have also trained 70 community health workers in Suguta and Barsaloi using basic mobile phones equipped with the innovative Health Enablement Learning Platform (HELP).
