William H. MacArthur
President and Owner of Brooksville Development LLC, Orlando, Florida
Established in 1982, Brooksville, in partnership with various investors from overseas, develops real estate in the US and Southeast Asia for residential, tourist/commercial (including hospitality), office and retail use. From 1978 to 1982, with partners, Mr. MacArthur established a bank in Manama, Bahrain (Trans-Arabia Investment Bank), and Transar Capital Corporation in New York to handle investments from the Middle East in the US. Prior to that, Mr. MacArthur practiced law in New York and Tokyo and was an officer in American Express’ international banking operations, working on the acquisition and establishment of new banking and merchant banking operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Since the late 1990s, Mr. MacArthur has also been engaged in various social development activities (education, micro-credit, women and children’s health and education, environmental protection, etc.); since 2001 these activities have been conducted through The Brooksville Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) private operating foundation. Currently the Treasurer, Mr. MacArthur joined the board of Amref Health Africa in the USA in October 2005 and served a term as Vice Chair from 2010 to 2012. He is also on the board of the Education Development Center, the Poverty Alleviation Fund, the Chelonian Research Foundation and the Verrni Project.
Mr. MacArthur is a graduate of Yale University (1963) and Columbia Law School (1967). He resides in Orlando, Florida.
